SWICCA - Service for Water Indicators in Climate Change Adaptation

Project duration: 11/2015 to 01/2018

The overall aim of the SWICCA project is to bridge the gap between research institutes who provide climate-impact data and water managers and policy makers. The main target group of the project is consulting engineers (so called purveyors) working for climate change adaptation in the water sector. Based on 14 real-world use cases across Europe the project designed and set up an online data store with climate, water, land-use and socio-economic indicators, which allows purveyors and decision-makers to develop evidence-based climate change adaptation strategies. SWICCA serves as a proof-of-concept for a Sectorial Information Service on water management to the EU’s Copernicus Climate Change Services.

The SWICCA project is coordinated by the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI).
