On 22.03.21, the online info market of the project "DAZWISCHEN - Future-oriented Structural Change in the Rhenish Mining Area" took place. The event was hosted by Prof. Christa Reicher from RWTH Aachen University and Christian Wirtz from the Zukunftsagentur Rheinisches Revier with around 100 participants.

The event presented the results from the first year of the project. Based on the fields of action of settlement, open space, climate, mobility and public services, a spatially differentiated picture of the Rhenish Mining District was drawn. Different spatial structures show concrete uses and challenges for a future-oriented structural change in the region. For example, the development of settlement areas and open space structures need to be harmonised.

In the panel discussion that followed, the challenges and opportunities of structural change in the Rhenish mining area were discussed together with regional stakeholders. Questions were addressed by Jens Bröker (Chairman of the Revierknoten "Resources and Agribusiness" of the Zukunftsagentur Rheinisches Revier), Dr. Christian Klar (Head of the BioeconomyREVIER coordination office), Volker Mielchen (Managing Director of the Zweckverband LandFolge Garzweiler) and Prof. Dr. Theo Kötter (University of Bonn, project NACHWUCHS).
