The SysKa project is slowly approaching the finishing line. In the coming weeks, ideas for security solutions for critical infrastructure management and exemplary building blocks for supplementing the Bochum Disaster Management Plan, which is currently in the planning stage, will be developed. These will be discussed in August 2022 in a simulation game (Planspiel) for the application and implementation of security solutions.

Prior to this, two SysKa project workshops were organized in September and November 2021 where the possible effects of an area-wide power blackout as a result of a heavy rain event were determined with participants from the TU Dortmund University, the city of Bochum, the municipal utilities, the BoGeStrA and the Bochum city relief organizations. The cascade diagrams developed from this process have been completed and deepened through interviews with critical infrastructure representatives. In parallel, a spatial analysis of the cascade effects was carried out and proposals for protection goals for the city of Bochum were compiled.

From May 2-4, 2022, the SysKa project had an opportunity to present its interim status at the SifoLIFE conference in the context of the BMBF Innovation Forum in Berlin. At the conference, the SysKa project extended its cooperation network and exchanged ideas with other SifoLIFE projects. Furthermore, many interesting workshops and panel discussions were held, where new technical possibilities and perspectives were illuminated.
